Financial Aid and Loans
Financial aid makes it possible for thousands of students to attend UNT. Around 75% of UNT students receive financial aid and scholarships totaling more than $405 million a year.
Learn the basics of financial aid, including eligibility, financial need determination, and how to apply using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
To be considered for financial aid, you must submit the FAFSA application each year. It is available starting Oct. 1 for the following year. Early application annually ensures the best opportunity to compete for available funding. To find averages on borrowed amounts, reported salaries and estimates of loan repayments, visit GradSense.
UNT offers a wide variety of funding opportunities in addition to financial aid and loans.
International students: You may be eligible for federal student aid through the FAFSA.
Dates to remember
- Oct. 1 — Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens. Apply early for the most grant and loan options.
- Jan. 15 — Submit your FAFSA by this priority date for the fall semester.
- Aug. 15 — Submit your FAFSA by this priority date for the spring semester.
