By accepting this TBP Award Agreement, you confirm that you understand all the award's criteria stated below and understand that if you fail to fulfill these requirements, your award may not be honored by the institution.

Terms and Conditions

TBP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS:

Admission, Program and GPA Requirement: Newly admitted or continuing UNT graduate students must be pursuing a masters or a doctorate degree, maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA, meet degree program satisfactory progress, satisfy any department criteria regarding performance and progress when TBP is awarded.

Enrollment Requirement:  Register for and complete a minimum of 9 SCH for your degree program during each fall and spring term you receive a tuition award. Doctoral students certified as All But Dissertation (ABD) by TGS prior to the beginning of a term may register for 3-6 SCHs. Refer to the Reduced Course Load web page for more information on eligibility criteria. Be aware that spring status changes to ABD will result in a revised spring award amount. Awards will disburse each term based on when full-time enrollment attendance is established. Recipients enrolled less than full time require manual disbursement review after census each term.

TBP awards will be applied to the payment of tuition and fees in the terms associated with the award, and excess funds may be refunded if accounts are paid in full. Student recipients assume responsibility for remaining charges and for monitoring their account to ensure funds are posted. The myUNT student account is the recognized resource for viewing student award information, and EagleConnect email must be used for UNT related communications. TGS will coordinate with Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFAS) and Student Financial Services (SFS) to hold classes during each term's enrollment cancellation period.  TBP recipients able to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are highly encouraged to submit the FAFSA to determine resources available to assist with educational expenses not covered by the TBP award.

EMPLOYMENT WAIVER CERTIFICATION

For Non-Residents and Foreign Non-residents not receiving a Competitive Scholarship Waiver (CSW):  An employment waiver will be processed on your behalf. If this waiver is determined to be invalid based on the items specified in Section Section 54.211 or 54.212, you understand  that you will be liable for any difference in tuition costs. You further understand that failure to pay such additional amounts may result in the immediate withdrawal from the University. You authorize the University to assign any unpaid tuition, fees and/or financial aid funds to a collection or credit reporting agency or agencies for the purpose of collecting the amount due, at the option of the University. You promise to pay all attorney's fees and other reasonable collection costs and charges necessary for the collection of any amount not paid when due. Additionally, if you are employed in a department other than your degree major, an academic authority in your major department must certify that there is a direct relationship between your position and your degree program. You are required to complete the “Employment Waiver Addendum.”

AWARD EXCLUSION CERTIFICATION

Recipients of the following programs are ineligible to receive the TBP:  research assistants on externally funded grants, National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellows, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fellows, tuition and/or fee waivers (such as Hazelwood Exemption and Good Neighbors Scholarship), and students sponsored by an external funding source where the terms and conditions of the sponsors automatically include payment of tuition fees. Students receiving Faculty/Staff Scholarship are ineligible for TBP award levels of this agreement but should contact gradaward@unt.edu for potential partial funding after the Faculty/Staff Scholarship has been posted to your student account each term.

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION and FERPA RELEASE

Please note that this award information will be sent to SFAS so that it may be coordinated with any other awards you have received for the award period. Once posted to your student account, receipt of this award may cause other scholarships (awarded by UNT or outside agencies) and other resources (federal, state and institutional financial aid) to be adjusted if you exceed the current cost of attendance at UNT, or exceed your “need” for assistance as calculated by the FAFSA. The timing of when this award and/or waiver of non-resident tuition charges is processed can impact financial aid already awarded.  If disbursement has already occurred for a term, adjustment to undisbursed financial aid may create uneven eligibility. Students should ensure documentation related to waiver of non-resident tuition is processed prior to the disbursement of financial aid each term. By accepting this award, you agree to abide by the policies, rules, and regulations governing UNT. You authorize UNT to verify the information you have provided as needed. You understand that recipient information may be provided to the sponsor(s) or donor(s) funding any awards received, and that notice of this award may be publicized in university materials. You authorize UNT to provide copies of grades and periodic performance updates to the selection committee as needed, including members of organizations or foundations overseeing donor interests (i.e., foundations, trust administrators, etc.). For students on externally funded sponsored projects, funding and selection processes are dictated/overseen by the sponsor/principal investigator (PI) and your participation with related reporting requirements is expected. Finally, you understand that the submission of false information is grounds for rejection and/or withdrawal of said award.
